Nick Colemen: bloggers are 'sad loners'
Nick Coleman in last week in the Star Trib:
"Do bloggers have the credentials of real journalists? No. Bloggers are hobby hacks, the Internet version of the sad loners who used to listen to police radios in their bachelor apartments and think they were involved in the world.
Bloggers don't know about anything that happened before they sat down to share their every thought with the moon. Like graffiti artists, they tag the public square -- without editors, correction policies or community standards. And so their tripe is often as vicious as it is vacuous."
That's not very nice, Nick.

Yeah, Nick is usually on target but with that story he's nuts. But give him time, I'm sure he's just getting used to surfing one of George Bush's internets.

I used to work with Nicky (edit him, actually). I can't count how many times I saved him from publicly making a fool of himself. I think he's just jealous of bloggers because they're mostly young, and he's just a cantankerous old man.
I also find it ironic (or coincidental?) that Andy misspelled "Coleman" in the headline. Hee hee.

He writes almost, but not quite, as well as the average blogger. Maybe he's not ready to be "tossed on the ash heap" yet, but if this column is any indication of his usual quality, his computer should certainly be tossed on the ash heap.
