New GLBT Youth Center to Open in St. Paul
A unique safe space for GLBT students will open soon in St. Paul. This means, with District 202, GLBT youth will have two spaces. This is great news.
A new space for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender teens to meet, study and earn school credit will open next week in St. Paul. The Safe Space Lab, sponsored by the St. Paul Public Schools and the city of St. Paul Parks and Recreation Department, will give GLBT teens and their friends a safe place to gather and learn, said Alan Horowitz, who directs the schools' Out for Equity Program, which provides support, training and outreach regarding GLBT youth in the schools. Of course, some people (conservatives) will get their panties in a bunch: "Why can’t every single group in society have their very own PUBLICALLY FUNDED private club house? Noty allowing everyone to have it is DISCRIMINATION!!!!!"
Instead of getting all bent out of shape everytime something good happens for the GLBT community, why don't we actually read the whole article: "Any interested St. Paul teen may use the center, Horowitz said. All students must go through a screening process that includes orientation and a pledge to follow the center's rules." I assume the rules will include something about respect, and about not trying to force people into Christianity. Well, probably not that last part.

This is a great program! They have tons of ideas for students NOT only in St. Paul but anywhere in the state I think. I work at a school in the metro area and I am trying to get the GSA (Gay Student Association) involved in their fun activities.
I wish them the best!

thats neat, i should get our gsa involved, however, i was curious, we refer to our gsa as the gay-striaght0alliance...ive never heard the acronym you used 'dude' ...
