Remember when I wrote about Krave and the GLBT community last week? Well there's write up in the Star Tribune in which they neglected to mention this blog or me. They wouldn't have written it without reading this blog first. How do I know? They called and emailed me.
Here's a money quote from the article:
"It's a destination now," said clubber Jason Sikkila, 23, of Columbia Heights. "It's something new that the gay crowd has needed for a really long time." (emphasis added)
Needed? Gosh. I wish gays in Minnesota got as excited about things like the right to openly serve in the military, to get married, or to stop HIV in our community as they do about buying expensive drinks at a straight bar and dancing to awful music.

Hey, self-righteous blog-meister---ya, you. This gay guy DOES care about equal marriage rights and stopping AIDS in "our" community. (Not so much about the "right" to openly serve in the military, though). And I can state truthfully that at least 4 people at Krave on the 19th were also at the Lobby Day and 6 others regularly volunteer at Park House--and that's just in our little circle. Since the gay/lesbian community in this city (and therefore the state) is tiny, that sample size is quite huge.

I'm not sure I understand the "gay/lesbian community is tiny thing." What source are you using for that data? With a Pride that draws 300,000 people, it would seem we have a sizeable community here.
Also, Richard Florida's "Gay Index" puts the Twin Cities in 17th among the 50 largest metro areas.
Also, not to be too snarky, but I get to be self-righteous. It's my blog.

Go ahead Andy! Go ahead and be self-righteous. It IS your blog. GLBT communities have always needed people like you who are willing to make stands and comments that might not be popular, but speak the truth. I don't call people like you self-righteous, I call you our watchdogs.
