Focus on the Family to Invade Wisconsin
James Dobson and Focus on the Family are coming to Wisconsin to try and influence voters to vote for the anti-gay amendment there.
Focus on the Family, the conservative Colorado Springs-based group led by James Dobson, filed papers with the state Elections Board last week to create a referendum committee. The group has spent more than $1 million passing anti-gay marriage legislation in other states and the stakes here are high: Wisconsin has been pegged by analysts as perhaps the first state that stands a chance of defeating a same-sex marriage ban.
Unfortunately, this will make Fair Wisconin's fight against the amendment that much tougher. If you have family and/or friends in Wisconsin, please urge them to get involved in urging people to vote "NO."

The point is, Focus is an outside group, not a home grown group - and the bigots lost in two rural areas in Minnesota. I think this suggests this issue doesn't help Republicans who try to exploit it in the way it has in the past.

The Wisconsin referndum is a pure wedge issue, designed soley to garner votes from the militant religious right.
Wisconsin has a law that forbids marriage between those other than a man and a woman.
This is an advisory, non-binding referndum and is a moot point, from the law aspect.
Dobson is not going to be well received in Wisconsin, as it is about 95% Catholic. Dobson's own Focus on Family thinks Catholics are as bad as Al-Qaieda.
Wisconsin also discovered stem cells at UW-Madison and that program is not going to be stopped, as we hold several patents on te very basic stem cell technologies.
Catholics do not like southern baptist tent preachers whose snake-oil style of 'doom and despair' denounce their religions values.
But Wisconsin is strongly leaning Democrat in Nov.
