SD 48: Sen. Michael Jungbauer Guilty in Campaign Finance Complaint
The Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board found Republican Senator Micheal Jungbauer guilty of accepting a donation from an unregistered entity in the amount of $600 according to people closely connected to the case. Minnesota Monitor first reported on Jungbauer's campaign finance report inconsistencies last month, as well as his varying accounts to the media attempting to explain contributions from a corporation, and questionable expenditures.
The OAH is expected to make their decision public by 5 pm today. He will be fined $500 and has 10 days to correct campaign reports before heftier fines are imposed. Jungbauer is the incumbent in Minnesota Senate District 48. His opponent is DFL candidate and military veteran Mike Starr.

Additionally, the board ordered the Jungbauer campaign committee to amend its report to include an in-kind contribution for the use of the Golden Wings Museum at the Blaine airport.Jungbauer held a fundraiser at the museum in February and while paying for insurance, the campaign did not pay rent for use of the facility.
The board also ordered the committee to amend its report to list the payee and underlining insurance vendor for an expenditure of $812 listed as “aviation insurance” in its 2006 preliminary report of receipts and expenditures.
