I'm 30... hooray!

I turned 30 today. The 20s were quite an experience, and it's probably good that they are over.

When I was born, Sweden became the first nation to ban aerosol sprays that are thought to damage earth's protective ozone layer. NFL Pro Bowl happened and the NFC beat the AFC 14-13. I'm not sure what that means, but it's American football I'm sure. Here's the cover from Time Magazine that day.

Homophobe Anita Bryant was on her anti-gay crusade. "At a National Religious Broadcasters Assn convention in Washington - Anita Bryant said that if she confronted homosexuals - “I would say that God loves them, that I love them, but I’d have to tell the truth - that homosexuality is a sin. I never said that I set myself up as a judge for anyone. But as a mother of four, I have my rights too.” As she spoke, about 1000 homosexuals demonstrated outside the hotel."

Laverne & Shirley was the hit show along with Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley,
Charlie’s Angels, Love Boat, Little House On The Prairie, Fantasy Island, The Dark Secret of Harvest Home, Barnaby Jones, Starksy & Hutch, Quincy, Eight Is Enough, Barney Miller, Three’s Company, The Bermuda Depths, All in the Family, Alice, 60 Minutes, The Waltons, Welcome Back Kotter.

Baby Come Back by Player was at the top of the charts.

I would like to thank all the social programs who have sent me an automated "Happy Birthday!" Connexion, GLEE, and OkCupid sent their messages right at midnight. It means so much.

If anybody wants to celebrate, I'll be at the 19 Bar tonight at 11 pm and there's a fantastic fundraiser for Minnesota GLBT Soccer at Camp Saturday night from 8-11pm that will double as my birthday celebration.

Happy Belated Birthday, Andy!

So many people I know (from random places) turning 30 within a 6-month span. Weird.
