Bar Rumors: St. Paul, Wilde Roast Cafe
Who knew St. Paul could be fun on a Saturday?
The Townhouse offers Bingo starting at 5 pm with cash prizes and proceeds benefiting Animal Ark. It's a bbit sparsely attended, but that works in your favor. Go with a group of friends, spend a couple bucks on cards and you'll likely win enough money to cover your bar tab.
Innuendo often has a benefit of some sort going on Saturday evenings. Last Saturday was a benefit for the North Star Gay Rodeo. Resident drag queen, Augusta Wind, put her butt up for charity as cowboys took turns giving her birthday spankings for charity. The dance floor later in the night features music by DJ Naughty Boy who provides a pleasant mix of 80s and top 40.
Back at the Townhouse last Saturday night was Lip Service held on the first Saturday of the month. Part cabaret, part drag show and part burlesque, Lip Service is a riot. Fire eating, KISS impersonators, and some of the most interesting drag in town makes for a packed house.
Heard the rumors that Wilde Roast Cafe is up for sale? They were true but not anymore. From the Wilde Roast blog:
In November Dean and I decided to put the cafe “on the market.” We hated the thought of losing the only GLBT restaurant in the cities, but sales dropped after the I 35 bridge collapse. Thanks to our GREAT staff and customers sales shot up in January, even with the recession and many restaurants reporting a drop in sales.
I think many people heard word that the cafe was for sale (and it WAS) but we took it off the market last month. I hope this ends any worry that the Wilde Roast Cafe won’t be around for a long time to serve the NE Community, the GLBT community, and anybody who likes great food.
