Bar Rumors: Rumours

| | Comments (2)

Des Moines: I just had a fantastic weekend in Des Moines. The Garden was the most fun, and while the dance floor music was better than the Saloon, it still kind of sucked. The drag show was pretty good. Impulse is a newer joint where the Frathouse was. It was really dark and they had an "all-male revue" going on. It wasn't all that good, especially for a $10 cover. The Blazing Saddle was great! It was like the Brass Rail but with lots of people.

St. Paul: According to the grapevine, the property behind Innuendo is about to go up for sale, and will become the long awaited Rumours, creating the bar "Rumours and Innuendo." No idea when that will go through.

Camp got 2 dart boards and 2 pool tables! Probably the only thing that was missing from this great bar was the pool tables.

Minneapolis: The Minneapolis Eagle/Bolt has had a complete turnover in management in recent months with the hiring of two new managers and the departure of two old manager over the last few weeks. The music in the underground has gotten quite interesting on Fridays, with a mix of mid-1990s post-grunge rock (think Seven Mary Three or Third Eye Blind). Reminds me of high school a little.

The New York Deli in the Loring Park area had a decent gay following, but it closed it's doors a few weeks ago. I never made it over there, but people say it was fun.

gay bars called Rumors, Innuendo, and Camp. All we need are bars called NSA, Recriminations, and Syphilis and we'll have the gay community covered, at least as far as terms go.

Brilliant! Indeed, pool tables were missing. Now I just have to check and see if the ol' pole is still straight for shooting. (Wow - that sounded bad.)

Swing on down on a Sunday sometime. Maybe I'll run into ya again.
