Bar Rumors: Gay 90s to stay gay, will get facelift

| | Comments (1)

The Star Tribune reports that the Gay 90s was bought by strip club owner Peter Hafiz. Hafiz owns Deja Vu and Dreamgirls, and now, apparently, the Gay 90s. Will the owner of staunchly heterosexual joints be up to the challenge of a gay bar often criticized for its heterosexualness? He will not be straightening it out further. "I have no desire to do that whatsoever," Hafiz told Tom Horgan. "There is a need for what the 90s [provides]. We want to keep it what it is."

But he won't be keeping it exactly what it is: a dump. "We're going to do an extensive remodeling and bring it up to date as an upscale venue for the gay community," he said. "It's a landmark, but I think it's been a landmark that's been neglected."

Gay 90s? Upscale? That I can't wait to see.

For the love of god... just new bathrooms and that place would be 10x better.
