Tired of Katherine Kersten's gay-bashing?

Something to consider: Sign the petition to have Katherine Kersten removed as a columnist at the Star Tribune. And see her own take on the push for her removal.

I'm not sure I totally agree with advocating her removal. After all, she exemplifies the type of bigotry that is leading to the downfall of the religious right. When it's exposed and sees the light of day, only then can we let voters know how those on her side of the fence really feel about everyone who is not white, Christian and straight (a huge chunk of her writing is based on criticizing athiests, muslims, immigrants and LGBT folks).

Signing the petition is advocating censorship and that person fundamentally doesn't understand the rights granted by our constitution. She has the same right to talk and write nonsense as you have to talk and write your nonsense. Take away one you take away both.

I agree with you Yoshi, which is why I haven't signed it. Although, the paper has the right to hire and fire it's columnists even if it's because of her viewpoint. It's a business in the end.

I think those calling for her removal are more interested in her lack of fact-checking. Even as a columnist and opinion-maker its part of doing an adequate job.
