Politics and sexuality mix heavy this week
There are a lot of great LGBT events happening all around Minnesota this week. I'll have a separate post looking at National Coming Out Week activities.
Monday
A LGBT people of faith forum is scheduled for Monday night in Rochester:
The nation's largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization will have a town hall meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at Christ United Methodist Church in Rochester. It will focus on how people of faith can take action on behalf of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender equality.
The Human Rights Campaign-led event will feature the Rev. Cynthia Love, executive director of the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches, the largest international ministry serving GLBT people.
Tuesday
OutFront Minnesota will be hosting a celebration and fundraiser on Tuesday:
Celebrate and support the work of OutFront Minnesota Action, OutFront Minnesota political action committee working for GLBT equality. OutFront Minnesota Action, a nonpartisan state-wide PAC, was created in 2004 to elect fair-minded state and local politicians and state court judges. In 2006, OutFront Minnesota Action helped elect fifty-five legislators - with your support we can contiue to elect candidates who stand up for GLBT equality.
Join us Tuesday, October 7 at "the Lex," the restaurant and bar of Minnesota's political movers and shakers, to celebrate our past successes and to support our work in 2008. Short program around 6:30 pm. The Lexington,

Next Week
The GLBT Host Home program is looking for foster homes for LGBT homeless youth. They will have informational meetings on Monday, October 13th and Wednesday, October 15th:
We need more host homes! On any given night in Minnesota, there are 204-215 GLBT youth who are homeless. One of the ways that the Twin Cities' community is addressing this problem is through the GLBT Host Home Program of Avenues for Homeless Youth, which offers an exciting approach to providing homeless gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender youth with safe homes. As volunteers of the program, adults open their homes and their hearts to young people who need and are looking for a healthy and nurturing connection. If you are interested in hearing more about this community-based program, please come to one of the following informational meetings:
